Ewedu Leaves : What You Should Know About Them

Ewedu leaf known as Jute leaf in english is a popular leaf in western part of Africa.In fact the yoruba people in Nigeria loves the combination of Ewedu Soup , Gbegiri (Bean Soup) and Amala. A week without this food combination is an incomplete week to many people in Nigeria. Little did some people know that these wonderful leaves have many health benefits. Ewedu leaves pack the antioxidant trio of Vitamins A, C and E which fend off free radicals thereby protecting the body from degenerative diseases.

These leaves also increase the collagen production to keep the skin firm and smooth. Studies have shown that this green leafy vegetable is rich in beta-carotene for good eyesight, calcium for heathy bones and teeth ,

beta-carotene, 1 mg of iron, 0.02 mg of thiamin, 0.04 mg of riboflavin, 0.3 mg of niacin, 10 mg of Vitamin C, 48.9 IU of Vitamin E.
