Foods That Improve The Quality Of Your Breast Milk.

As a lactating mother, there are foods that when taken can aid breast milk supply or ejection. Your baby deserve the best of milk and this milk can only be obtained when the mother takes quality foods. Eating nutritious foods help the baby’s immune system. If your diet is low in calories, this may affect the quality of your milk.Here are foods that can help improve the quality of your milk.

Watermelon:

To meet the needs of Vitamin A for nursing mother, watermelon can play a vital role in that aspect. Watermelon is rich in Vitamins A and C, folic acid and potassium. The high water content in watermelon makes it a good food for hydration. It is advisable that as a nursing mother, not less than eight glasses of fluid should be drank everyday.

Garlic :

Garlic is known to be useful for many medicinal purposes. Studies have shown that babies nursed more often and took more milk when mothers took a garlic supplement before nursing.Meaning that the increased breast stimulation helped to increase milk supply. As a lactating mother, start adding garlic to your meal.

Green Leafy Vegetables:

Eat your greens ~ spinach, broccoli, curly lettuce and asparagus. Healthy eating.

Green leafy vegetables are also known for different purposes. I have written so much on them in the past. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach ,broccoli, lettuce, mustard greens are excellent source of iron, folate, calcium and vitamins. These minerals are known to intensify lactation. Eating two portions of green leafy vegetables daily will go a long way in improving the quality of your breast milk.

Cashews:

If you can lay your hands on cashew, it is believed to boost breast milk production because of its high caloric content. It contains great minerals and vitamins. You can blend it with some other fruits to make a cool and fine smoothie.

Finally, always drink a lot of water to avoid  dehydration, taking fluids appropriately will go a long way in helping you and your baby.
